Lady Annabel Goldsmith Launches Her Latest Book

They say that a man's best friend is his dog - but as far as Lady Annabel Goldsmith is concerned, the same goes for womert. In fact, the widow of billionaire and consumate ladies' man Sir James Goldsmith knew her loveable mongrel Copper - who died a year after Sir James in 1998 - was the one male on whose loyalty she could always depend.

Her new book Copper: A Dog's Life' gives an inSight into her colourful past from the viewpoint of her furry friend. And last week fellow doglovers, family and pedigree chums were invited to attend the book's launch at the Mungo & Maud pet outfitters in Belgravia, London.

While Lady Annabel's daughter Jemima did not attend the party, son Ben and his wife Kate lent their support, as did TV presenter Ben Fogle and his wife Marina Hunt, interior designer Ed Godrich and model Chloe levigne.

As the champagne flowed, a scuffle broke out between two of the guests - a pair of over-excited teniers fighting over dog toys for sale.

Lady Annabel, who turned a blind eye to her husband's affairs during their marriage, says: "My late husband and Copper had a lot in common. Jimmy was not at all a doggy person, yet he was intrigued by Copper. I think he recognised that same free spirit in him. They certainly both had an eye for the ladies!
